Frequently Asked Questions

Are these tools free to use?

Yes, all tools on Date & Time Utilities are completely free. No sign-up or payment is required. You can use any calculator as many times as you like.

Is my data stored anywhere?

No. All calculations happen entirely in your browser using JavaScript. We do not collect, store, or transmit any data you enter. There are no cookies, no analytics tracking your inputs, and no server-side processing.

How is one year calculated?

One year is calculated as 365.25 days (31,557,600 seconds) to account for leap years. This is the standard Julian year used in astronomy and most scientific calculations. Similarly, one month is averaged at 30.44 days (365.25 divided by 12).

Why does the holiday countdown show next year?

If a holiday has already passed for the current year, the countdown automatically shows the days until the next occurrence. This way, the countdown always shows a meaningful, forward-looking number.

What are business days?

Business days are weekdays — Monday through Friday. When you select "business days" as the output unit, the calculator counts each day between your two dates and excludes Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays are not excluded since they vary by country and region.

How does the Age Calculator work?

The Age Calculator takes your birthdate and compares it to today's date. You can view the result in any time unit (years, days, hours, etc.) or choose "Years, months & days" for a detailed breakdown like "25 years, 3 months, 14 days". The calculation uses calendar math for the detailed view, not approximations.

Can I use these tools on mobile?

Yes. All tools are fully responsive and designed for touch screens. Date and time pickers use your device's native controls for the best experience on phones and tablets.

Why do some results show decimal numbers?

When the difference between two dates doesn't divide evenly into the selected unit, the result includes decimals for precision. For example, 10 days is approximately 1.42857 weeks. Results display up to 6 significant digits.

How accurate are the time conversions?

All conversions use exact, standard factors. Seconds, minutes, hours, days, and weeks use precise values (60 seconds per minute, 3600 per hour, 86400 per day, 604800 per week). Years and months use widely accepted averages (365.25 days per year, 30.44 days per month) to handle the variation in calendar month lengths and leap years.
